There is a curious ditch marking the Eastern edge of the ancient parcel of wood at Cwm Weeg’s boundary with Pant Moel and this might well be the relic of a medieval boundary ditch between wood and adjacent grazing lands.  There was such a boundary ditch surrounding another monastic settlement on the opposite side of the parish towards Churchstoke at Gwernygoe, which belonged to the Abbey of Cwm Hir.  All these links with far away Bishops and monasteries came to a fairly abrupt end with the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell.
