The Spirit of the Place

We have all come across places that have a special atmosphere and that seem to lift us out of our every day existence into a different realm. Cwm Weeg is one of those places. Visitors will describe this effect as peaceful, calming, inspiring or exciting and uplifting but very few are not effected in one way or another by walking through the house or strolling through the garden.

What lies behind the “Magic” has for a long stretch of human history been described as “The Spirit of the Place” - Spiritus Loci.

The fact that people have lived and worked the land at Cwm Weeg for well over 500 years has helped to build up many layers of history and memory. One thing we (Wolfgang and Kingsley) take some pride in, is that the Spirit of Cwm Weeg has not been weakened by all the changes we have instigated over the last 40 years of living at the Cwm. If anything, the Magic is stronger than ever.
